Give it a go--there are plenty of readers who have absolutely adored this book, and I am a grump by nature, so you may well love it :) Thanks for visiting, Belle. I'm one of the few reviewers who doesn't seem to like this--overall the reviews have been very positive. I love the idea in concept, but it didn't quite work for me overall. Hi Shelleyrae, I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I struggled to identify with Victoria from the start, and I think that was in large part what affected my enjoyment of the book. I don't mind dual parallel narratives so much generally, but I felt that in this one the two storylines mirrored each other so closely that it made things feel a tad predictable and forced. Hi Amy,

Hi Shelleyrae,

As for the dual parallel narratives I think they served it's purpose in this novel though it's not a technique that always works for me. In this case it provided the contrast for Victoria's adult character. Oh I loved this…I got caught up in the story, and the characters. It did sound promising though and I like the stark cover. Too bad this one isn’t living up to the billing. It did sound promising though and I like the stark cover.

I agree with the fact that this book is underwhelming and definitely with "that it’s hard to identify with anyone or anything in this book." I've had great fun reading through your reviews - they're really well written and I've enjoyed reading them. Thanks for stopping by my review earlier.
